Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HomeSchool PlayLab

  • What is HomeSchool PlayLab?

HomeSchool PlayLab is a boutique homeschool learning center (registered name of Academeer Inc.) in Argyle, TX. We provide collaborative, mastery-based math enrichment for homeschool families — we are NOT a registered school or licensed daycare. Parents retain full responsibility for their child's primary education.
  • Why is this program unique?

Our math program is based on Vedic Mathematics, which carries the twin advantage of speed and accuracy. The program is specifically designed to improve each student's problem-solving speed. It progresses gradually from simple to complex calculations, and a systematic chapter-by-chapter study results in a marked improvement in mathematical speed. This approach means students don't just learn math — they master it, building confidence for the SAT and any competitive exam.
  • Who are the sessions for?

We run two distinct programs. Morning sessions serve Grades 1–5, focusing on building a deep, mastery-based arithmetic foundation. Afternoon sessions serve Middle School and High School students preparing for the SAT and competitive exams using advanced and applied mathematics.
  • How long is each session?

We operate as a focused, boutique program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Each session is strictly 75 minutes. Because we are a specialized academic lab and not a daycare or full-day school, our sessions are designed for high-impact learning within this timeframe.

  • Where are sessions held?

All sessions are held at The Grove Church, 825 Sam Davis Rd, Argyle, TX 76226 — a secure facility conveniently located just off I-35, accessible for families across Argyle, Northlake, Flower Mound, Denton, Corinth, Roanoke, Trophy Club, and surrounding areas.
  • What does the math curriculum cover?

Our curriculum spans foundational arithmetic (Grades 1–5) through advanced SAT and competitive exam topics including: Addition, Multiplication, Divisibility, Squaring and Cubing, HCF and LCM, Fractions, Decimal Fractions, Elementary Algebra, Number System, Binary System, Permutation and Combination, Probability, Surds, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Alligation, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Mensuration, Series, Data Sufficiency, and Data Analysis. Every chapter is studied systematically until mastery is achieved.
  • What is the tuition and payment policy?

All class fees must be paid in advance to secure your student's spot. We do not offer refunds once registration and payment are complete. A strict 30-day written notice is required to cancel enrollment.
  • What should my child bring to sessions?

Just a labeled refillable water bottle, comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes. HomeSchool PlayLab provides all learning materials — books, workbooks, pencils, paper, and art supplies. Please leave snacks, personal toys, and electronic devices at home. We maintain a strict no-screen policy during all sessions.
  • How do I enroll?

Join our interest list at homeschoolplaylab.com/join-interest-list and a founder will reach out personally to discuss your child's needs and available spots. Registration is complete once all required forms are signed and fees are paid.
  • Is this program right for my child if they are behind in math?

Absolutely. Our mastery-based approach means we meet every student exactly where they are. No student advances until they have fully mastered the current chapter, so there is no pressure to keep up with a class that has moved ahead. Whether your child needs to fill gaps or accelerate beyond their grade level, the program adapts to them.
  • Do you follow the Texas state curriculum or homeschool co-op standards?

While we follow the rigor of the Texas state math standards to ensure grade-level proficiency, our boutique approach allows for deeper inquiry and hands-on play-based learning that exceeds traditional classroom constraints.

  • What days and times are sessions available?

We offer sessions Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Morning sessions serve Grades 1–5 and afternoon sessions serve Middle and High School SAT prep students. Specific time slots are shared during the enrollment conversation with our founders. Contact us at hello@homeschoolplaylab.com for current availability.

  • Are sessions available on weekends?

We operate as an intensive, boutique program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We do not offer sessions on Wednesdays, Fridays, or weekends. This focused schedule allows our students to dive deep into our "Fun for Play" math labs while leaving space for other homeschooling activities or family time during the rest of the week.

  • What age or grade can my child start?

The Play Side is open to students in Grades 1 through 5 (approximately ages 6–11). The Lab Side SAT and competitive exam prep program is designed for Middle School and High School students. If you are unsure which program fits your child, reach out and a founder will help assess the best starting point.
  • Is there a trial class or assessment before enrolling?

Yes. Before formal enrollment, we conduct a brief initial assessment to understand your child's current level and identify the right starting chapter. This ensures every student begins exactly where they need to — not too far ahead, and not repeating material they have already mastered.
  • What happens if my child misses a session?

Because our program is mastery-based and chapter-sequential, missed sessions can affect a student's progression. We ask parents to communicate absences in advance. Makeup arrangements are handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the instructor. Please note that fees are not refunded for missed sessions.
  • Do you offer sibling discounts or family pricing?

We do offer family pricing for families enrolling more than one child. Details are shared during the enrollment conversation. Contact us at hello@homeschoolplaylab.com to discuss options for your family.
  • Is HomeSchool PlayLab accredited?

No. HomeSchool PlayLab is a boutique enrichment and tutoring center — it is NOT a registered school, accredited institution, or licensed child care facility. We do not issue report cards, transcripts, or official academic credits. We are a supplemental program designed to strengthen mathematical skill and confidence.
  • How is progress tracked and communicated to parents?

Progress is tracked chapter by chapter. Because we require mastery before advancement, each completed chapter is a clear milestone. Our instructors maintain direct communication with parents and are available to discuss your child's progress. We believe parents should always know exactly where their child stands and what comes next.
