  • Which grades does The Play Side serve?

    The Play Side serves Grades 1 through 6. Students are grouped by social and cognitive milestones: The Junior Pod(Grades 1-2), The Intermediate Pod (Grades 3-4), and The Senior Pod (Grades 5-6). A brief intake conversation helps us place each child in the right group from day one.

  • What is the cost and schedule for the program?

    Our program has a fixed monthly fee of 500 USD. This includes three 75-minute sessions per week, totaling 15 hours of instruction over a standard 4-week month. This equates to a rate of approximately 33.33 USD per hour, designed for steady, compounding progress.

  • What should my child bring to sessions?

    Please send your child with a labeled refillable water bottle, comfortable clothing, and closed-toe shoes.


    **All Resources Provided:** HomeSchool PlayLab provides all learning materials. Resources remain at the center, ensuring a "no-burden" experience for students and families once they return home.


    *Important* To maintain our focused, high-engagement environment, please leave snacks, personal toys, and electronic devices at home. We maintain a strict no-screen policy during all sessions.

  • How often should my child attend each week?

    Our program runs throughout the year (except on public holidays). We recommend attending all 3 sessions (each session is for 75 mins) per week for steady, compounding progress. Thats equal to 15 hours per month (4 weeks) and weekly 3 hours 75 mins.


    Our fees are fixed $500 pm is the fixed monthly fees for the program.

  • What does 'hands-on math mastery' actually look like?
    It looks like children building, sorting, and reasoning — not filling out worksheets or tapping through a screen. We use physical manipulatives, logic puzzles, pattern cards, and tactile number work to bring arithmetic concepts to life. Children work through problems by constructing and discovering them, which is how deep understanding actually forms.
  • Is this a tutoring service or a class?
    The Play Side is neither a traditional tutoring session nor a large classroom. It operates as a small-group enrichment experience — boutique by design, with just enough peers to spark collaborative thinking and social learning, and few enough students that each child receives real attention. The group dynamic is a core part of what makes it work.
  • Does my child need to be struggling in math to benefit?
    Not at all. The Play Side serves the full range — from children who already love math and want deeper challenge, to those who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or behind. The session structure is built to meet children where they are emotionally and academically, so every child finds both comfort and growth in the same room.
  • Does your program incorporate STEM learning?

    Absolutely. While Core Math Mastery is our primary focus, we believe in a holistic approach to learning. We seamlessly blend STEM principles into our curriculum, allowing students to see how mathematical logic applies to science, technology, and engineering in the real world. This cross-disciplinary method ensures that children don't just learn formulas—they understand how they function within a broader, integrated system.


  • Who is eligible to enroll in The Play Side?

    Our program is designed exclusively for children and families who are currently homeschooling. Because we understand the unique journey of home education, we have built a curriculum and schedule specifically to support and supplement the homeschooling lifestyle. This focus allows us to foster a tight-knit community of like-minded families dedicated to holistic, logic-based learning.

  • Is there any homework assigned?

    We do not provide homework sheets. Our intensive training process during the three weekly sessions is designed to be sufficient for steady, compounding progress.


    While we encourage students to practice at home, their time spent with us covers the core curriculum.

  • How do you track and ensure individual student progress?

    Individual progress is paramount at The Play Side. We don't just teach to the group; we ensure that every student truly understands the underlying concepts and can solve problems independently. By maintaining a strict 1:6 staff-to-student ratio, our instructors can provide the personalized guidance necessary for each child to master the material at their own pace, building genuine confidence along the way.

  • Is The Play Side a registered school?

    No, we are not a registered school. We are a private enrichment lab that focuses on specialized math development and holistic child intelligence. By operating as a private program, we have the flexibility to blend rigorous Core Math Mastery with high-energy laughter yoga and mindfulness—creative and physical activities that you won't typically find in a traditional classroom setting.

  • Do students take the STAAR test ?

    No. As a private homeschool program, our students are not required to participate in state-mandated standardized testing. Instead of teaching to a test, we focus on deep conceptual understanding and mastery through hands-on play, while providing parents with regular updates on their child's individual progress.

  • Why do you follow a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday schedule?

    Our schedule is rooted in the science of distributed practice. By meeting three times a week with intentional gaps, we prevent cognitive overload and ensure that 'Core Math Mastery' is moved from short-term to long-term memory more effectively than daily cramming.

  • Are you affiliated with Grove Church?

    While we are grateful to host our sessions at Grove Church, we are a separate, independent private business. The Homeschooling Playlab (a DBA of Academeer Inc.) operates as its own entity. We love being part of the local community and providing a convenient location for our families, but we are not part of the church's official programming or staff.

  • What is the drop-off and pick-up policy?

    To ensure a focused and safe environment for all students, we strictly adhere to the following timing policies:


    Arrival: Parents are required to drop off their children **10 minutes prior** to the start of class. This window ensures students are fully settled and gives them time for any personal needs, such as using the restroom, before the 75-minute session begins.


    Pick-up: Children must be picked up **within 5 minutes** after the session ends.


    Late Arrivals: Consistency is key to our "Logic & Joy" curriculum. Please note that parents are solely responsible for any learning missed due to late arrivals.

  • How do you cover Reading, Spelling, Grammar, and Good Citizenship in a math-focused lab?

    Absolutely. While Math is our primary focus, our program is designed to meet the full Texas state core requirements. We seamlessly integrate Reading, Spelling, Grammar, and Good Citizenship into our "Fun for Play" curriculum. 


    By applying these skills to real-world challenges and collaborative projects, we provide a well-rounded educational experience that satisfies all state mandates for private homeschools.

  • What happens if my child misses a session?

    Because our program is mastery-based and chapter-sequential, missed sessions can affect a student's progression. We ask parents to communicate absences in advance. Makeup arrangements are handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the instructor. Please note that fees are not refunded for missed sessions.

  • What age or grade can my child start?

    The Play Side is open to students in Grades 1 through 5 (approximately ages 6–11). The Lab Side SAT and competitive exam prep program is designed for Middle School and High School students. If you are unsure which program fits your child, reach out and a founder will help assess the best starting point.

  • Are sessions available on weekends?

    We operate as an intensive, boutique program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We do not offer sessions on Wednesdays, Fridays, or weekends. This focused schedule allows our students to dive deep into our "Fun for Play" math labs while leaving space for other homeschooling activities or family time during the rest of the week.

  • Do you follow the Texas state curriculum or homeschool co-op standards?

    While we follow the rigor of the Texas state math standards to ensure grade-level proficiency, our boutique approach allows for deeper inquiry and hands-on play-based learning that exceeds traditional classroom constraints.
